Having acquired a new digital camera capable of producing files up to 12MB in size I quickly found that my 1GB Secure Digital card was going to be inadequate. I decided to go for the largest capacity card in Novatechs list, the 8GB. On purchasing it the salesman asked me if I was sure that the camera could manage a card of this size. It seems this can be a problem but I found nothing against it in the camera instruction manual so I went ahead with the purchase. The card is not advertised as being high speed and I did wonder if it could cope with some of the cameras capabilities. I need not have worried. Every test on the card has seen it come through with flying colours - video (both standard and high resolution), time lapse and continuous shooting were all achieved with no problems. I did find, however, that the card could not be read in the computers own SD slot so the salesmans warning has validity. In practice this does not matter as I prefer to download images straight from the camera via a USB cable anyway. The only criticism I have of this card is that it does not go into and out of its slot very easily, so possibly manufacturing tolerances are not as tight as they should be. Again in practice this is not a problem as with a capacity of over 1400 images at the highest .jpg setting you are not going to need to remove the card very often. Subject to your appliance accepting an 8GB card, I recommend this item.
