Why Buy LED:
LED TVs are a still an LCD product. Standard LCD (CCFL) TVs & Monitors use conventional cold cathode florescent lamps (think of 80s Strip lights) to illuminate the LCD pixels in the panel. An LED back lit TV uses tiny light-emitting diodes. There're two types of LED panels conventional rear (lit from behind the panel) and the latest edge lighting (where the panel is lit from the side)

Image quality:
