This drive will not work on XP and cannot be connected to a BT Home Hub 3. Pretty much useless except for Win7.

I love the size of the hard drive, and it works fine with my Windows 7 laptop. What it does NOT work with however, is the cyclone media players that Novatech sell. It is not just these drives, but any drive over 2TB needs to be partioned using GPT (GUID partition Type) as opposed to MBR (Master Boot Record), else you will not see any more than about 2TB of space. Worth bearing in mind if you had planned to pair this with the cyclone media player (as my brother in-law had). Not just the cyclones either, from all accounts I have yet to come across a media player that will recognise a 3TB drive or higher. Still a great drive though. If you want to hook up to a media player, or a PS3, stick to the 2TB version.

I bought this for my media player. Firstly, WinXP won't recognise the drive. It has been partitioned into 1, 2 & 3 partitions, it's been formatted as FAT32, EXFAT & NTFS and still XP can't see it. I managed to do all that on my friends Win7 laptop in case you're wondering. But the biggest problem is the media player won't recognise it either in any of those configs. I'm absolutely gutted, £135 and it can't do the job I bought it for.

Boguht one of these to back up my server. First - with USB 3.0 the bulk transfer under Windows is 140MB/sec! Second - at the local branch they could even tell me whhich model hard drive was inside because they now teack all that infromation (a good Seagate BTW). Impressed.
