I initially purchased the asus crosshair V formula 990FX mb. However, after ongoing problems, I had to send it back. I requested this Gigabyte UD7 mb as a replacement. In fact, Tom (tech support chap) highly recommended this mb. He said Gigabyte are renowned for making stable and reliable mb's. He was not wrong. This board screams quality the moment you open it. Personally, I think it is far better in build quality and performance than the asus crosshair V formula. Installation was straight forward (even though the layout is different from what I am accustomed to, ie - asus mb's). As soon as I switched on my pc, everything booted up nicely. In fact, I was so surprised when the mb detected W7 installation and took me right into windows desk top!. Bear in mind that in the interim I had gone back to my I7-960 and asus sabretooth X58 set up. Despite a totally different installation platform, this AMD mb worked like a dream. However, I still reinstalled W7 to be on the safe side. Afterall, you dont want the previous mb software and drivers to clash with this one. I am truly impressed with this mb. BIOS is very intricate and initially quite complicated. However, when you learn your way around, it is a cinch. The manual is very detailed and gives in depth installation guidance, as well as detailed BIOS information and how to navigate and use BIOS. This mb is very stable in function and performance. I have had it up and running since 5pm on Friday 11/11/11 and so far, so good. There is no hint of any issue. Everything is totally sweet. Quite frankly, from the moment I opened the box and saw this mb, I feel in love with it. I just knew it was the one for me. I will continue to test it over the weekend but to be honest, I am completely satisfied. If you are not restricted by budget, instead of buying the Asus crosshair, it would be better to shell out the extra £14 and get this mb instead. Trust me. I have paired this mb with the new AMD FX8150 bulldozer cpu and everything is just hunky dory. I will run some cpu bench mark tests to find out how good the new AMD 8 core is. To be honest, I am satisfied and it is more responsive than my I7-960 cpu. Even gaming is better with the new AMD. Pictures are more colourful and sharper than the I7-960. Some people say the cpu is not involved in gaming. Actually, it is. The cpu undertakes polygon, PhysX and tesselation calculations, so it takes a big strain off the gpu. I will leave a detailed review for the FX8150 in due course. Also, many thanks to Tom in tech support. This chap helped me a great deal over the last 7 days. He went the extra mile to help a troubled customer and I am very pleased with him. I would also like to thank the other guys in tech (Richard, Neil, Gary, etc) for helping me when Tom was not available. Many thanks to Emma for swiftly sorting out and authorising this replacement.
