Intel's 4th gen processor codename: Haswell offers superior performance over the previous generation Ivybridge by up to 10% clock for clock. This astounding performance boost results in performance improvements in multi-tasking, encoding, gaming and multithreaded applications. Intel's 4th generation processor has improved PCI-Lane 3.0 bandwidth which helps further boost performance of latest generation 3 graphics cards for the ultimate gaming experience.
For overclocking enthusiasts, Intel's 4th gen CPU has improved memory overclocking support, with up to and beyond 3000MHz possible with the very best memory kits. Memory bandwidth is critically important to Haswell compared to previous generations. High frequency memory performance significantly improves encoding, gaming and benchmarking tasks.
The biggest leap in Intel's Haswell processor is the onboard graphics which is now up to 2.6x faster than previous HD4000 found in the Ivybridge CPU. What this means is these latest processors can actually play the latest games in HD with low/medium settings applied. Of course if you want to experience True HD gaming at maximum details then a dedicated graphics card is still a must.

Upgraded from an AMD Phenom II X4 850 which has served me well over the past few years and had become a little outdated. Upgrading to the i7 4770k has got to be one of the best decision i will ever make when upgrading my gaming build, the performance is outstanding and really showed how old my AMD chip had become. Load times are exceptional and have seen considerable improvements to my frame rates in games as well as reduced loading times in normal activities. Was torn between getting the i7 and the i5 4670k which costs around £69 less but if you have the budget, i would strongly suggest going for the i7 4770k over the i5 simply because of the hyper-threading that the i7 4770k provides. Combined my 4770k with the gigabyte Z97x gaming 3 board which offers plenty of options for gaming builds.

I upgraded my system from an AMD Phenom II X6 1100T Black Edition to the Intel i7 4770k... what a difference! I would always suggest going for any K edition processor as its far easier to overclock and the difference in price is not much to be concerned about. I also bought a Corsair H100i and an Asus Maximus VI Hero MoBo. I currently have it overclocked to 4400Mhz, but is had more in it. I just used the auto tune in the BIOS of the MoBo to do it. As only just bought board, ill look into getting more out of it later. From the reviews on the web the i7 4770k is the best processor you can buy for sun £250 and would not be beaten until you spend 2-3 times that much. Great processor, good bye AMD, nice knowing you (not)

Not had much experience with this proc yet, only had it a couple of months, but it's doing well. CPU bottleneck on my old QX system is no more, very fast and efficient CPU. CPU benchmarks are impressive, I don't think you can get much more unless spending two or four times as much. During normal gaming it's not taxed too much, combine with a neat little cooler like the Siedon and it idles nearly at ambient and will peak at around 50. Plenty of room for overclocking and combined with a decent cooler and mobo you could up the turbo clock easy. No experience of on-board GFX as I haven't used it. Seems to be running my system fast, no lock-ups or moments where it's churning away at 99% like my old system and hanging. I've used it for video encoding, Audio editing with massive VST's, and gaming and it does a great job so far. Hoping it does me proud like my QX did for the next few years.

I upgraded to a Z87 motherboard and 4770k with little research. The processor is 3.5GHz with 3.9Ghz "turbo". With the stock Intel HSF I was able to overclock to 4.3GHz fully loaded. With the Corsair H60 cooler I get to 4.5GHz fully loaded (Prime95). Wow! I'm rather shocked that I was able to achieve such a large overclock with virtually no effort. An importantr fact is that the "K" is NOT multiplier locked which greatly helps if you are interested in overclocking. Warning - playing around with overclocking *can* damage your CPU if you don't know what you are doing, and your warrantly will be voided.

I bought this in combination with the MSI G45 Gaming Mobo and an H100i from Corsair, really happy with the performance, the temperatures are good, (31 degrees 5 minutes after playing Grid 2 which came with the chip). I read reviews and concerns about the 4770k, where some users were experiencing idle temps of up to 56 degrees, which I found hard to believe, and even harder now I've got it up and running. Mind you, as Tig says in their review don't even get intels cooler out the box.

Bought this on the day of release and what can I say that the reviews haven't? If you are running a 3770K then you will see a speed difference but probably not enough for a new motherboard and CPU. However, if you are running anything else, just click add-to-basket! This processor is a beast! The stock cooler is comical, don't bother using it, get something better (like the Corsair Hydro Series H80i, if you aren't going for insane over clocking) because the fan is both noisy and inefficient. If you MUST stick with the stock cooler, scrape off the paste that comes with it and get a decent thermal compound! As I was running a GTX 465 graphics card on my old set-up (and broke the bank with the new Motherboard, this CPU, Case, and PSU) I decided to try the 4770k's own GPU and, embarrassingly, it's better than my old 465 was! Not only that but you can also use the new DirectX physics extension using the CPU graphics (which is the whole point of bundling Grid 2 with it, as it's the only game available at the moment to use them.) Oh and Grid 2 is pretty awesome too!
