The NETGEAR ReadyNAS Duo is the latest addition to the award-winning ReadyNAS family of advanced network storage products. The Duo builds on the success of the ReadyNAS NV+, providing a quiet, very low-power-consuming, small 2-disk form-factor NAS that's ideal for the home. With large capacity disks becoming the norm, the potential for losing enormous amount of priceless photos, videos, and personal data is very real, and it only takes one hard disk failure to recognize the need for disk failure protection that RAID provides. The ReadyNAS Duo provides this protection with NETGEAR’s patent-pending X-RAID technology. Just by adding a 2nd disk in the Duo, your data is automatically protected from disk failure as each disk becomes an exact mirror of the other.
Provides extra storage
The ReadyNAS Duo is perfect for homes with more than one computer. Unlike a USB drive, the ReadyNAS connects to the network and is simultaneously accessible via all connected Windows or Macintosh computers.
Access stored content anywhere via the Internet
If there is a broadband Internet connection and a home router, the ReadyNAS can be set up to provide secure access to all the stored files remotely via the Internet.
Data Protection
For added protection of stored data, an optional second hard disk drive can be installed. The spare hard drive will keep an extra copy of all the data and instantly take over if the first hard drive should fail.
Supports most network music, picture and video players
Advanced media streaming support allows the ReadyNAS to directly serve media, with no PC required, to devices such as the NETGEAR EVA8000, Sonos Digital Music System, Logitech Squeezebox, Apple iTunes clients, Sony Playstation 3 and Microsoft Xbox 360.
Embedded BitTorrent client for direct downloading from the Internet
Officially licensed BitTorrent client allows downloading to occur without the need for an additional computer. A Web-based interface facilitates download management from computers, and a special NETGEAR Digital Entertainer interface allows management from the EVA8000.

fantastic when setup.the instructions are ok if you setup with 1 drive, but not very good if setting up with two new drives.filled mine with 2x 2tb samsungs,make sure unit is OFF when you insert the new drives!. then all will be okalso with these size drives it took 6 hours for the nas to sort itself out,so dont expect to be playing straight away.great product good build quality as well.i can sit and slideshow all my photo's direct from my dlna tv straight from the nas,happy days

I?d been thinking about how to store all my files for some time and decided after reading the reviews that my best option would be a NAS and in particular, the Netgear ReadyNAS Duo. It?s easy to set up and has some great facilities and utilities to make managing the ReadyNAS really easy. You can even access the ReadyNAS from anywhere you can access the internet with Netgear?s easy to use ?ReadyNAS Remote? software. A great solution for having a central place to store and backup all your files and a great price from Novatech too

i fount it a bit tricky to set up but it works great now, I put 2 x1tb samsung drives in and let it run. messesd around with the software without reading instructions, and eventualy worked it out. Hate reading instructions..

This is good for the Home market to hold music and pictures for low price. it is also good as one can claim a Hard drive free. I found setting up the Remote access a little frustrating, but that is due to Netgears why of logging in to their system. Good well priced NAS Backup system.

Purchased to stream music to an Xbox 360 as it stated it could do and it does exactly that without any complicated setups. Very easy to use.

An excellent item. Can be customized to be so much more than a simple NAS box. I have a virus scanner, web server and NZB downloader running on one.
