During an important visit to our headquarters by a highly regarded company, one of the customers remarked a phrase that we at Novatech have heard many a time before…
‘I didn’t know you did that.”
The same customers were amazed when they looked around and realised what we're capable of in-house and from some of the many projects we have worked on in the past.
The retail website is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Novatech’s projects, making up only 50% of what we do. For nearly a decade, we’ve been working hard to diversify our offering. It's particularly hard to vaunt due to non-disclosure agreements, confidentiality clauses, proprietary hardware, and such. We also take our security and data protection extremely seriously. But it never hurts to be proud of what we are achieving.
Novatech are no longer just 'builders' or 'suppliers', we are trusted technology partners. And we work with some amazing companies. We offer consultation advice, complete project management, plus support - of course.
So, we’ve decided to take you 'behind the scenes', show you what our dedicated and specialist teams get up to (as much as we're allowed to, anyway…)
Novatech calculate the skies
For this first project, we literally reached for the skies. Custom, advanced hardware for the development of an air and maintenance crew trainer simulation.
Novatech were approached to condense and virtualise a client’s traditional, desktop-based training solution into a smaller, one machine model. The client runs the simulation software with 3D models of aircraft, which they use to track unique diagnostic and corrective training for users.
Novatech stepped up to the challenge of adapting the simulation to a virtualized network from its accustom physical hardware. The goal was to run the software on an alien environment, without capability flaws, whilst also running at an efficient, cost-effective rate.
With an advanced system topology, Novatech architected the systems virtualization with 3D processing for a graphically dependant training workload using powerful, capable hardware built to handle the heavy pressure. The simulation boosted running capabilities via multiplied graphics cards and intelligent thin clients.
The flexibility of the improved VM-based virtualised solution has taken the simulation engine to the heights of reliable 3D processing. Reduced costs on the lifecycle management, and of maintenance and hardware, have been designed to save the client resources and energy. Disaster recovery capabilities have been advanced and the system now runs on a much smoother network than its cumbersome predecessor.
It’s the room for customisation that makes Novatech a go-to technology partner to fit project preferences. Stepping up to the challenge is the thrill that has crafted the company and with the new year approaching, we have our eyes set on the future with eager, professional intent.
Bet you didn’t know we could do all that?

Desktop-as-a-service (DaaS) is far from a new concept. In fact, it has roots as far back as the late 1960s when IBM was utilising mainframes to centralise processing. This concept was expanded on with the client-server model in the 1990s before being super-charged by the more powerful servers and fibre-optic broadband connections of the 21st century.
