2020 has been a challenging year for us all - with social distancing measures in the workplace, remote working from home and endlessly short stock. However, that hasn't stopped us from committing to our charitable efforts.
Here at Novatech we have been committed to helping the lives of others in the surrounding area throughout the past year, and will be continuing to do so into 2021.
With mental health issues on the rise, 1 in 4 people will experience a mental health problem of some kind each year, with 1 in 6 people experiencing a common mental health problem (anxiety and depression) in any given week across England. Back in 2019, we embarked on our journey to get people talking about mental health in the workplace, since partnering with Solent Mind.
The partnership between Novatech and Solent Mind was an employee led decision, for whom we have raised nearly £1000 in just 3 months!
Solent Mind is a local charity dedicated to supporting those with mental health issues within the community. Staff here felt it was important to support a charity in which themselves, friends and family could benefit from if needed.
Solent Mind's mission is to provide advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem, with campaigns to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding.
Earlier this month we organised an internal raffle which saw prizes donated from some of our partners, Corsair and LG. Prizes included gaming peripherals and monitors, vouchers for various retailers such as Amazon, Love To Shop and Argos, as well as bottles of Prosecco.
The raffle was held live by our Managing Director David Furby and all proceeds went to our chosen charity, Solent Mind.
Charmaine Budd, Partnerships Manager for Novatech Ltd commented on the raffle, saying, "I would like to thank our suppliers and staff who donated prizes to the raffle and of course everyone who bought tickets. This was a great opportunity to raise money for our chosen charity as well as rewarding our staff for their hard work this year."
Our commitment to raising funds for charities did not stop there. On Friday 4th December we took part in the annual Christmas Jumper Day, raising money for the official charity, Save The Children.
With some staff in the office and others working remotely, we all took part wherever we were and finished the day off with a team Zoom call!
Looking ahead to 2021, our commitment to future charity events will commence with a generous contribution to Solent mind, marking both the start of the new year and a chance to celebrate our dedication for success.

Desktop-as-a-service (DaaS) is far from a new concept. In fact, it has roots as far back as the late 1960s when IBM was utilising mainframes to centralise processing. This concept was expanded on with the client-server model in the 1990s before being super-charged by the more powerful servers and fibre-optic broadband connections of the 21st century.
