Put simply 4K, or Ultra High Definition (UHD), is the new standard of screen resolution. Current HD televisions have a resolution of 1080, meaning that the vertical resolution - the total number of visible lines counted from the top of the TV screen to the bottom - is comprised of 1,080 lines. 4K UHDTVs will have the equivalent of around 2,160.
