Great for the money Very quiet drive, does the job
Bought one to replace a faulty 1TB Seagate that failed in a 2010 iMac (a well known issue subject to a recall by Apple). I was dreading the temperature sensor issues, but with the original temperature lead attached... Success! Fan runs at normal speed, and temperature sensor correctly displays HDD temp.
very nice quite and quick drive for the money. The seagate disc wrizade(download from their site) made copying the os and files very quick and easy less 20 min for me. Needed not to reinstall windows great. i have placed mine by my front fan to keep it cool as all drive do heat up a bit.
Brilliant! For the price this drive is brilliant. I've had no faults now I've had the drive for a year, it's not excatly fast but it's got a large capacity to store my videos. It's nothing compared to my Samsung 840 EVO SSD, but this HDD isn't competing with that - As usual brilliant service from Novatech

Very quiet drive, does the job.

With reference to Peter's review - have you tried updating the software from Seagate website. Had the same problem with a 2tb drive until I update the bios for the disc. - Need to check on the website though to ensure you have the right software for your exact drive. In any case - once done the problem should go away. Regards

Got this as part of barebones order for new build - Cheap large and quiet. Mind you I can remember forking out £300 for a 120 MB IDE drive back in the Nineties so it would be quieter and cheaper. - Good value for Money, only reason I chose Seagate over WD is personal preference from experience
I have 4 of them setup into a raid array they work well, but have a small clicking issue (checked the drive its only when the arm returns to the resting place) could be better but for the price at the time of ordering well worth it.
I bought this hard drive to replace a very full 250gb maxtor drive. I find it quieter and quicker than the maxtor drive and with Seagate discWizard, (downloadable from the seagate website), I transfered the content from the old drive to this one in a couple of hours with no corrupt files (so far).
This hard drive is quick but a little noisy, for this price though I can't fault it.
Same as other people no issues perfect
I bought the both Seagate 1TB and Western Digital 1TB for a Desktop running XP Pro. I expected the WG to be better as it was more money and had rav reviews. In fact the WD was noticeably slower and noisy. Whereas the Seagate was absolutely silent, and booted in half the time. No axe to grind, but having tested both as main system drives, Seagate is first choice.

Does exactly what you would expect from a cheap 1TB hard drive. Neither silent, nor fast, If you want those 2 features buy an SSD. This is exactly what it is, cheap storage with a 2 years guarantee.
I recently had this drive replace a faulty Western Digital Drive which I purchased and got returned (great return support & service from Novatech as always!). After installing the drive in my system, I have constantly been disturbed by an ongoing 'chirp' / 'click' sound which apparently is a result of Seagates stupid APM Head parking feature. This feature also causes the drive to spin down instantly after any usage, causing lag and system haults whilst the drive starts up again. Many other users online and even on some of the other Seagate drives on here have complained about this feature. Seagate in response have made a firmware fix for this however I was so annoyed to find out that there was another flaw in the Seagate firmware on my drive which prevented it from being updated! I hope Novatech will let me return this as I have just spent quite a lot of cash on new fans for making my system near silent, this drive just ruins that! Avoid it at all costs.
