Have always used Seagate as my drive of choice, always reliable, always used and only ever had one go bad in years which was promptly replaced..
Good performance has served me well for around a year now and I have had no problems!

I have just installed two of these drives for data backup to replace two Hitachi IDE drives. I ran Crystal Disk Mark and find that these are about three times faster than the IDE drives but are slower than my Western Digital 1TB caviar black SATAIII drive which in turn is slower than my Crucial M4 250GB SSD. I bought these on price and capacity for a low level task, they are quiet, faster than needs be and will be able to hold all my data well into the future. Very pleased with these drives, time will tell regarding reliability.

I have been using Novatech for quite a time. I used WD drives for some years but as the this drive was better value I tried it. I am now a Seagate fan. Technically there is very little difference between WD and Seagate but from a few very crude tests they do seem a little faster. I have not heard any bangs or chirps, I run 4 Seagate and 1 WD, no problems at all.
Ordered this to replace a noisy 200gb HD. Runs quiet and gives a windows index of 5.9. V pleased with it.

My rating reflects my experience. These perform according to spec, as one would expect. However, I bought 3 for a new build; two worked fine (and continue to), but the third had a partial failure and I lost data. I returned it to Seagate under warranty and received it back - no complaints about the turnaround, at least - but it seems to me they'd just reformatted it, put it through a few test cycles and sent it out again, because a few months later it failed again ("Fool me twice, shame on me", as they say). I still need the third drive, but will probably be buying something different.
works very well real fast with lots of space!!! good buy and the best price i found on th net
